Funerals
“Is there anyone among you sick? He should summon the presbyters of the church, and they should pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord, and the prayer of faith will save the sick person, and the lord will raise him up.”
Catechism of the Catholic Church, #1015
Although death can be profound and often painful, we also believe that by His death and resurrection, Christ conquered death and made possible salvation for all men.
In burying the faithful, the church confirms her reverence for the great dignity of the human person created in the image and likeness of God, as well as her faith in the resurrection of the body and hope in the life of the world to come.
